Story Builder, Drinking Game Rules

Category: Party & Verbal Games · Players: 3+ · You’ll need: Drinks only

Write a story together, one sentence each, and try to keep it coherent as the drinks land.

Setup: Circle, drinks.

How to play:

1. Player one opens a story with a single sentence: "The wedding was going perfectly until the llama arrived."
2. Going left, each player adds exactly one sentence continuing the story.
3. Drink if you: stall more than ~10 seconds, contradict established facts (the table votes), or laugh so hard you can't finish your sentence.
4. The story ends when someone lands a genuine ending line, the table toasts the tale and starts a new one.

Hard mode: one word per player instead of a sentence.

Story Builder, Variations

• One word each: The classic hard mode, sentences assemble one word at a time around the circle.
• Genre spinner: Every full lap, spin for a new genre the story must swerve into (noir, rom-com, nature documentary).
• Banned words: “And,” “then,” and “suddenly” are forbidden, each slip is a sip.
