Horserace, Drinking Game Rules

Category: Card Games · Players: 2+ · You’ll need: 52-card deck; drinks

A spectator betting game, the four Aces race down a track and everyone bets drinks on a suit.

Setup: Take the four Aces out and line them up side by side at one end of the table, these are the horses. Perpendicular to them, deal 7 face-down cards in a column alongside the track, these are the gates. Before the race, every player bets by naming a suit and a number of sips (e.g. "4 on hearts").

How to play:

  1. The announcer flips cards from the deck one at a time. Each flipped card moves the Ace of that suit one gate forward.
  2. When all four horses have passed a gate, flip that gate card: the Ace matching its suit moves one gate backward.
  3. The first Ace past the seventh gate wins.

Paying out: Players who bet on the winning suit hand out double their bet in sips. Everyone who bet on a losing suit drinks their own bet.
